[Washington, D.C., November 14, 2023] – As Jews from all walks of life are descending on Washington DC to participate in the March for Israel, over 200 volunteers from the Community Security Service (CSS) will use their security training to help keep the rally safe. In coordination with the organizers, CSS volunteers serve as eyes and ears that proactively report suspicious activity before these can become serious incidents.

The Rally for Israel, scheduled for Tuesday, November 14th, at the National Mall, is expected to draw a large crowd, uniting diverse voices in a powerful demonstration of support. The presence of CSS security volunteers, led by their COO and Deputy National Director Richard Priem, emphasizes their commitment to ensuring the safety of the community during such pivotal events.

“Our role at the rally goes beyond marching in support of Israel– CSS volunteers are trained to deter and detect suspicious activity, and de-escalate potentially volatile interactions,” said Richard Priem. “Given the sharp increase in antisemitic activity, our volunteers play a pivotal role in safeguarding the Jewish community.”

CSS volunteers, who go through extensive training in advanced security protocols, will work closely with law enforcement to ensure a safe and secure environment for attendees.

The Rally for Israel serves as a call to action for those who stand with Israel and seek the safe return of hostages. It is a moment for the Jewish community and allies to join forces, echoing a united voice for solidarity, and the protection of all.

“Our involvement is a testament to the vital role community-based security plays in the Jewish community’s safety infrastructure,” added Priem. “We empower people to take security into their own hands. Particularly in today’s climate, Jews want to feel like they are directly involved in protecting their own friends and family.”

The event is open to the public and all are encouraged to participate in this peaceful demonstration of support and unity.
